When your business needs more than JUST you
“You’ll never get rich doing all the work on your own”
“You’ll never get rich doing all the work on your own”
The words of a successful entrepreneur in my family who wanted to give me some advice about running a business. These words have stuck with me. At the time I was a solopreneur, my energy levels appeared to be infinite, and my fingers were in so many different pies. I was successfully juggling tasks (without a to – do list!) and I was juggling them efficiently (or so I thought). I must add that my goal was not to be rich, it was more about feeling valued for the work I was doing and working with people who wanted to participate in the physiotherapy journey – real goals, real purpose.
I think that many of you will agree that the MSK world is very driven by a shared ethos that wants to improve the health and wellbeing of its patients and many of us do this through treating people. Whilst this ethos is admirable, I don’t think that it always considers the individual doing the work. When I talk to people about business development, I now talk to them about building an environment that they can sustain from the start and one that they have room to grow, personally, professionally, and creatively.
