Interesting perspective. At the end of the day our companies are different and have different needs. For contractural reasons, I need a system that integrates with Healthcode. It is clear that my provider (who does) has changed their business model towards larger companies and is diversifying their offering on that basis: integrating AI, for example, which I imagine requires a lot of investment. They have not raised their fees for us.

What we require from our practice management software, priority wise, is likely to be different for different people. I don’t need mine to drive sales so much as to be extremely user friendly and adaptable, and programmable to suit the innovation I try to bring to the table. With the number of enormous companies around me competing for air, for me to compete with those who have huge marketing and advertising budgets would make me an extremely busy and poor fool: as a much smaller business I need to bespoke to my USP, not compete on their ground. Flexibility in the way I programme my software is more key to me than its position in SEO terms.

I can understand people being pissed off that they’ve been forced to change as the model no longer suits them: but it doesn’t mean it doesn’t suit everyone. I can mark myself out as different to the big players, and now to the single handed practices too. We should all have different approaches but aspire to be visible to those who would choose what we have to offer.
